The Thirunelly temple which is on the foothills of Brahmagiri
ranges of Western Ghats is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is in Kerala state and
near to Wayanad, Mysore and Madikeri. It is 310Kms away from Bangalore on the
Mysore – HD Kote – Kabini Dam – Bavali – Kattikulam – Thirunelli route.
Alternatively, from Mysore – Nagarahole – Kutta – Thirunelly will be 300Kms.
Road is good till Kabini or Nagarahole on the alternate route. There after it
is Karnataka brand, till you reach Kerala border.
Plenty of home-stays are available in this scenic hamlet of
hills and hillocks. There is a temple run rest house just beside the Temple
providing lodging with basic facility.
It is also the place where River Kalindi which originates
from Brahmagiri Hills converged by River Papanashini, which joins Kapila
(Kabini) River which again joins Kaveri River.
