Thadiyandamol Peak, Coorg

Thadiyandamol  is the highest peak in Madikeri ranges of Western Ghats, bordering Kerala and Karnataka states. On the road to Talakaveri around 15kms from Virajpet a left deviation at a place called Kakkabe takes you to the foothills where the famous Nalaknad Palace is situated. The private vehicles go right up to a small stream running across the road. Steep uphill drive for about 4kms along this road from the Kakkabe junction is in itself very thrilling. After a decent walk though the tree covered jeep track for about 2.5kms the road ends and uphill trek of another 2kms starts under the open sky.
There is a big rock en-route which many use for putting up tents. Halfway through, there is a boundary built by piled-up stones, which I guess is the boundary between two states.
