Chunchi falls, near Bangalore

Chunchi Falls is in Kanakapura district of Karnataka. The waterfall is formed by River Arkavathy which originates from Nandi Hills. Chunchi falls is around 65Kms from Bangalore on the way to Sangama and Mekedatu. Now-a-days, not much water flows in Arkavathy. As Doddaballapur and Chikkaballapur are developed into townships, rain water from Nandi hills and surrounding areas never reaches Arkavathy. Every drop of water is usurped by Bangalore Rural. Further, a number of dams are built across this small river exploiting everything that a river can offer. The water released from Harobele dam jumps down narrow rocky cleft and flows further down to join Kaveri River at Sangama, near Mekedatu.
