The Hogenakkal is in Dharmapuri district of Tamilnadu, about 180Kms from Bangalore via Hosur. River kaveri after joined by Hemavathi and Kabini passes through the narrow crevice of Mekedatu (Goat crossing in Kannada) – so narrow that even a goat will be able to leap across) near Kanakpur. At Hogenakal (smoky rock in Kannada) the river spreads into a wide area and actually looks like a sea. There after it jumps into a gorge formed by what looks like crack due to earthquake. The place is well known for coracle ride and oil massage.
